PRELUDE - Mackinac Adventure

Leaving Sault Ste Marie enroute to Florida I boated south for a few hours and when I reached Mackinac Island , I rented a slip at the marina and stayed there the whole weekend. I had my main course meal at the Grand Hotel every night. I toured the island by bicycle and by horse and after three days everything started to smell like horse shit and sugar. I enjoyed the vacation and kept starring at the bridge , well knowing that once I went under it there would be no turning back.
Lake Michigan did frighten me , i am not ashamed to admit. My GPS and I had it out at the very beginning of the trip.  It kept pointing backwards until finally it got on my nerves and I stopped my engine to look at my charts. It dawned on me that the satelites were following me  in live time and were monitoring my every move. I was not in the open water but heading down a bay. I wasted a couple of hours backtrackng but I was thrilled with my new GPS , my electronic first mate cruising buddy
The planned route is not complicated:
Lake Michigan ,pass Chiicago. The Calumet River to the Ohio, to The Mississippi, to The Tom Biggby and Mobile Alibama into the Gulf of Mexico ,pass Tampa Bay to Punta Gorda Florida.

Years Gone

There was a time when I could navigate Blogger with ease. Over the years changes were made and I no longer can figure out where it's at because Google moves faster than I can follow. I will use this blog for my autobiography and it will cover 3/4's of a century. The world has changed and much has been left behind. I am greatful for the era in which I lived and I feel sorry for where we are at today and the direction in which we are heading.
